Here We Go Again

Well, it seems someone has taken photos of the girls again and posted them on an Italian message board for mothers. For the past two years they have been known as Guilia and Margherita! (Let's all remember the time when somebody took pictures of my girls and made a website for "Sthella and Evie." Good times!) I'm seriously reconsidering how much of myself I want to put out there on the internet. Which makes me sad.

(This post is for the women on the message board so they believe me that the photos were stolen! Thankfully they all seem to be very nice people. Except for the one pretending to be me. Her? Not so nice.)

Oh Internet, what a complicated relationship we have.

Tracey i just discovered u've been in our board!
I haven't read everything you wrote (time to go to bed here..) but i will tomorrow.
I just couldn't wait to salute you and tell u how excited i am for your visit and how sorry i'm for that dickhead who took pieces of your life
Come back again, you're part of the family somehow :)

  2. I'm a little disturbed that twice you have had your pictures used without your permission and in the context that they were children with different names, etc. I was thinking of starting a weblog myself, but now I'm wondering if I should.
Another disturbing note, McCain accuses Obama of 'disingenuousness'. Come On!!! Obama graciously reponsponded "The fact that you have now questioned my sincerity and my desire to put aside politics for the public interest is regrettable but does not in any way diminish my deep respect for you, nor my willingness to find a bipartisan solution to this problem."
Oh, I just thought of something ---- Obama is no longer your senator.

  4. Jennifer- I read that this morning too! I liked Obama's response. Always the classy guy. I'm so sad he's not my senator anymore! I hear we have some good ones in Wisconsin though.

  5. Yeah, I had an experience a few months ago with being stalked on the internet a little bit. For me though, it wasn't just some random person, it was someone loosely connected to me, who may have less-than-good intentions. Subsequently, I had to have all of my posts on a message board I had frequently for 6 years "hidden" by the administrators, and I've been going through my livejournal trying to friends-only all of my posts.
Anyway, it made me re-think how much of myself I want to put out there. You know what though.. It never occured to me (naively) until I saw your post here that people might take pictures of me or my family and use them elsewhere. *sigh* Sometimes I miss the (relatively) "innocent" days of the early internet.

  6. Oh my gosh Tracey, that is so creepy! Especially since I just posted that I was afraid of that. My coworker told me, 'It's not YOU they're after'. I didn't know whether or not to feel offended. Ha.
So what are you going to do about this? Can you take any sort of legal action? I suppose you could pull the girls's photos and email those to your family. Or maybe have a password protected site? Do you like how I'm trying to figure this out for you? Haha. Sorry that happened, both times.
On another note: WOW, over 200 visits a day! That's so cool
