See This Movie See This Movie See This Movie

Did I mention that you need to see this movie?? So, I went to see Fahrenheit 9/11 last night in Rockford with Jason and Billy and first of all I have to say how happy I was to see sold out show! I went in expecting to enjoy the movie (well, as much as someone can enjoy being angry, I guess) but I had no idea just how good it was going to be.

I am a longtime fan of Michael Moore's work but even though I thought his previous film, "Bowling for Columbine" was incredibly important, I also knew it had serious flaws. Because of this, I was very happy to see Moore all over television this past week saying that of course, his movie is incredibly biased. It presents facts, but ties them all together giving his point of view of the events. Yes, I happen to agree with his point of view but I still don't think that means that people who disagree with him should not see it. In fact, I think that is all the more reason to go see it! Not that I think a hardcore Bush supporter would come out having their political views completely changed, but it definitely gives everyone something to think about and discuss. I thought the movie was funny at the beginning, followed by frustrating, infuriating, and finally saddening and incredibly moving. The thing that gets me most about people who dislike Moore is that they claim he "hates America". But it you watch this movie you see that the exact opposite is true. He completely supports the American people yet questions the government, which I think is fantastically patriotic. I think anyone who doesn't see this movie based on pre-conceived notions of what they think it might be like is not only missing out but willfully sticking their head in the sand.

Thank you very much.
